You could experience the best of two worlds by taking advantage of the opportunity to become a Citizen Soldier in the United States Army Reserve Military Technician Program. As a Citizen Soldier, you are employed by the Department of Army as a civilian working a normal full-time workweek with all the benefits available to a Federal service employee to include health and life insurance, retirement and Thrift Savings Plan, and accrual of leave (annual, sick and military). When duty calls, you can proudly put on the uniform as a military service member of the United States Army Reserve and receive the pay and benefits associated with the military assignment. As a member of the United States Army Reserve, you are required to perform military duty one weekend a month and at least fourteen days a year of annual training. In your civilian pos! ition, you perform work in direct support of the US Army Reser! ve in an administrative, professional or maintenance related position. As a US Army Reserve Military Technician, you are a vital link in the chain of command of the United States Army Reserve and civil service, working with professionals like yourself at locations around the world or as close as next door. As a civilian Military Technician you are one of the most important keys to combat readiness; as an Army Reservist you have the opportunity to perform military duty to defend and to serve your country by performing military duty when needed.

This position is located at the United States Army Civil Affairs Psychological Operations Command, 413 Civil Affairs Battalion, 321 Civil Affairs Brigade, 350 Civil Affairs Command, Lubbock, Texas.

Considered to be at the center of the South Plains, the area is located between t! he Permian Basin to the south and the Texas Panhandle to the north. The estimated population of Lubbock is 212,365. KEY REQUIREMENTS
THIS POSITION REQUIRES MEMBERSHIP IN THE U.S. ARMY RESERVE (USAR).
This position requires a Secret Security Clearance
The business travel requirement is 5 percent.

This position may offer a $3000 recruitment bonus (see Other Requirements). DUTIES:
The duties of this position include:
ÂPerforming of administrative functions, clerical tasks and supply work.
ÂProcessing personnel and military pay actions.
ÂPreparing and processing supply actions, training schedules, unit attendance records and general correspondence.
ÂCompiling information for re! curring and one-time reports related to functions of the unit.
ÂRe! viewing all work for compliance with regulations, policies and procedures.
ÂProviding advice on procedures for enlisting or transferring to a unit.
ÂAssisting in completing forms, make arrangements for physical exams, and answer general questions on eligibility for promotions, transfers, discharges, etc.
ÂMonitoring key logistical areas that impact unit readiness, such as equipment serviceability and on-hand status of equipment. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Demonstrating experience with ! military personnel regulations, polices or directives; demonstrating fact finding skills to determine appropriate actions necessary to accomplish tasks; utilizing knowledge of information management regulations to prepare correspondence and mailings, and/or maintaining records and files. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
Education Substitution: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience above in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definition(s) below:
Completion of 4 years above high school education from an accredited college or university.
Or
Combination of Specialized Experience and Education: Some specialized experience as described, but less than one year; and less than four years of education as described. (To compute the percentage, divide y! our total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then take your total s! emester hours of undergraduate education, subtract 60, then divide by 60. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.) (Note: you must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

 Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
