Description: Texas Department of Family and Protective Services is at present recruited Nurse III right now, this position will be presented in Texas. Under the supervision of the Nurse IV performs complex clinical and administrative work for the Region 1 Tuberculosis (TB) Elimination Program. Coordinates, manages, and provid! es TB services for individuals with active, latent and suspected TB infection. Services include nursing assessment, testing, planning, implementation, documentation, evaluation, referral, education, and case management of patients in the field and clinic setting. Work may require alternative shift patterns depending on regional TB case load. Participates in planning, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of regional TB program activities. Assists with TB surveillance, reporting, and epidemiological activities. Works closely with physicians, nurses, support staff and management to ensure patients are taken care of following CDC, DSHS, and regional standards and protocols. Participates in regional nurse education initiatives and performs nursing duties in support of Region 1 programs including but not limited to TB, Immunizations, HIV/STD, Epidemiology, and Community Health. Safe operation of either a state owned vehicle or personal vehicle is required to conduct state busi! ness and an acceptable driving record must be maintained in ac! cordance with DSHS Policy OS-3901, Fleet Operations and Management & Procedures and standards developed by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Essential Job Functions:
Attends work on a regular and predicatable schedule in accoradance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
(35%) Coordinates, manages, and provides TB services for individuals with active, latent and suspected TB infection. Services include nursing assessment, testing, planning, implementation, medication monitoring, documentation, evaluation, referral, education, and case management of patients in the field and clinic setting. Works closely with physicians, nurses, support staff and management to ensure patients are treated following CDC, DSHS, and regional TB standards and protocols. Activity participates in case reviews with TB program nurses.
(20%) Plans and/or assists with TB contact investigations including initial investigations and follow up ! in the field. Investigations may include but are not limited to: Identifying contacts, conducting contact interviews, providing appropriate screening, education, referral, evaluation, and nursing services. Assists with TB surveillance, reporting and epidemiological activities as assigned. Assists with the planning and coordination of targeted testing and projects for the region. Prepares reports of activities for TB Program Manager and regional administration.
(20%) Provides TB consultation, training, and technical assistance to staff, local health departments, correctional facilities and other health care providers relating to the laws and regulations for TB control, medical management of patients, and case investigations. Develops and conducts TB educational programs and community outreach to medical personal and the public. Serves as HansenĂ¢s Disease Program Case Manager as needed. Assists with the development and implementation of regional TB program goals, o! bjectives, quality improvement processes, policies, and protocols.

20%) Participates in regional nurse education initiatives and performs nursing duties in support of Region 1 programs including but not limited to:
A. Immunizations: Administers immunizations at regional immunization clinics, provides education on current immunization recommendations and updates and promotes Texas Immunization registry.
B. HIV/STD: Performs HIV/STD testing. Treats patients with STDs. Provides education on HIV/STD prevention and services
C. Epidemiology: Assists with epidemiological investigations and response. Conducts case investigations. Collects biologic specimens and provides immunizations in support of investigations and responses.
D. Community Health Services: Assists with maternal and child health pop-based programs. Conducts training and presentations that address state and national M&CH performance measures.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of professional nursing theory, nur! sing processes, nursing science, and clinical skills.
Knowledge of principles and practice of public health nursing and health care management.

Registration or Licensure Requirements:
Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
Initial Selection Criteria:
RN licensed in Texas (required)
Experience in Public Health Nursing (preferred)
Experience in working in a clinical settings (preferred)
Experience in Communicable Disease (preferred)
Experience conduct! ing TB contact investigations (preferred)
Experience training others (preferred)
Experience using computer software (preferred)
Experience preparing written reports (preferred)
Experience maintaining confidential records (preferred)
