Responsibilities:
Sysco West Texas is now hiring a Transportation Supervisor for the Amarillo and Lubbock market.
This is a supervisory position responsible for the operational and personnel activities of an assigned area of transportation. Supervises a group of hourly drivers, providing leadership and direction in order to achieve safety goals, reduced expenses and increased productivity in line with Sysco's vision and values.
Hours in excess of 40 per week, working weekends and holidays, and starting at vario! us early morning start times are required in order to successf! ully meet customers' needs.

Essential Skills and Knowledge
Collaboration with sales and warehouse operations to understand the needs of the customers and sales force.
Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with all levels of internal and external customers (drivers, sales, management, customers, etc.) and complete reports
Possess strong organizational and prioritizing skills
Knowledge and understanding of D.O.T. regulations and SyscoSafe program
Knowledge of vehicle and equipment use and maintenance requirements
Effectively coaches, counsels, and directs employees
Intermediate computer skills, including functional knowledge ! of word processing and spread sheets; e-mail; internet navigation. Ability to acquire functional knowledge of a variety of desktop/pc programs.
Knowledge of products sold by Sysco
Demonstrate strong problem resolution skills.
Essential Duties: (essential functions are in bold)
Directly supervises [4-20] delivery, shuttle, backhaul, and/or special-run drivers.
Perform functional supervision including scheduling hours, routes, and equipment, and making recommendations regarding hiring and performance management.
Monitor and control production, overtime, absences, tardiness, etc. within established limits.
Ride with drivers and coach on proper techniques to include reinforcing company initiatives, safety and overall performance.
Conduct performance reviews, field observations and coach cards of drivers as necessary.
Carry out information-gathering and transactional activities using a variety of technology, to include STS, XATA, ADP ti! me keeping and Payroll system, and SAP.
Assist with talent acquisit! ion, orientation, onboarding, and training of new employees.
Attend and participate in operations management meetings and training activities.
Conduct team meetings and training sessions for employees.
Maintain transportation files to include driver accidents and DOT files.
Perform back-up responsibilities as needed to include: routing, dispatching, duties of delivery associate, processing payroll, etc.
Ensure compliance with government regulations and monitor hours worked to ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, EPA, HACCP, and other applicable regulations are met.
Provide appropriate training, retraining and corrective action to prevent injuries and accidents.
Perform administrative duties, such as completing reports, maintaining transportation records, and filing reports.

Basic Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
2 years transportation / delivery experi! ence
2 years supervisory experience
Valid driver's license with a driving record that meets Company insurability standards (including: no single DUI in the last 3 years and no multiple DUIs within the last 7 years)
Ability to read, write and speak English.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, the following certifications: Double and Triple Trailer; Hazardous Cargo
Preferred Requirements:
Bachelor's degree preferred
1 year supervisory experience in transportation environment
Previous experience at Sysco
Previous experience in the foodservice industry
Experience using MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word.
