Accounting Technician II-Performs highly complex technical accounting support work in the area of Timekeeping, Payroll, Trust Fund Administration, and compliance auditing. Work in! volves performing detailed assignments in recording, classifying, examining, and verifying financial records, documents, or reports. Works under limited superivsion with considerable latitude for use of initiative and independent judgement.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Performs payroll-related activities utilizing State of Texas Peoplesoft accounting software.
2. Researches, analyzes, and coordinates resolution of payroll and payment discrepancies.
3. Assists with an annual inventory of equipment and supplies including maintaining proficiency in HHSSA accounting software Fixed Assets module.
4. Serves as primary backup to Client Trust Fund Clerk and processes Trust Fund requests utilizing DADS Trust Fund Accounting Software.
5. Serves on State Supported Living Center Incident Command System (ICS) team.
6. Serves on various problem focused SSLC internal and state level workgroups and committees as requested.
7. Conducts employee training related to Business Office! and ICS policies and procedures.
8. Performs related work as assigned
Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agencyâs obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
1. Experience with accounting or bookkepping principles. At least two yeas of experience in governmental accounting practices preferred. At least one year of experience in governmental timekeeping/payroll processes preferred. Graduation from a standard senior high school supplemented by college course work in accounting is generally preferred. Experience and eduction may be substituted for one another.
2. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures affecting the maintenance of accounting rec! ords and automated accounting system,
3. Skill in the use of a personal computer and related office equipment.
4. Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, especially WORD, EXCEL, and OUTLOOK.
5. Ability to review work for accuracy, to accurately perform numerical detail work, to make arithmetical computations, and to prepare financial and accounting records.
6. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Registration or Licensure Requirements:
Initial Selection Criteria:
At least two years of accounting/bookkeeping experience .
Experience related to governmental accounting, payroll, timekeeping preferred.
Additional Information:
All State Supported Living Center employees are subject to Random drug testing.
Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours.

Salary Note: The starting salary for this position is based on HHS starting salary guidelines; starting salary is $2353.25 per month.
