Description: Texas Department of Family and Protective Services is currently seeking to employ Food Service Vehicle Driver I right now, this job will be settled in Texas. Further informations about this job opportunity please read the description below. Vehicle Driver I-Food Service Vehicle Driver performs routine motor vehicle operations. Work involves operating motor vehicles in transporting passengers! or cargo. Prepares and maintains forms or records pertaining to vehicle operation. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. Employee may work rotating shifts in the event of a disaster and/or operational necessity. The employee may be required to drive a State vehicle, if in possession of a valid driverâs license and completion of/or enrollment in a defensive driving & van driving course. Assists with cook duties and serves in dining areas, as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
2. Operates motor vehicles such as automobiles, vans and trucks.
3. Performs operator maintenance before, during, and after trips, such as checking and/or servicing fluid levels, tires, lug nuts, and lights.
4. Ensures vehicle passenger and cargo capacity is not exceeded, ! passengers use safety restraints, and cargo is distributed to ! reduce maximum axle loading.
5. Secures and protects cargo.
6. Transports passengers on scheduled or on-call basis.
7. Transports cargo consisting of, but not limited to, supplies, and food items.
8. Performs related work as assigned.
9. Cleans vehicles inside and outside when time permits.
10. Demonstrates commitment to the Performance Improvement efforts of Food Service, LUBSSLC and DADS.
Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agencyâs obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of motor vehicle operations, of passenger and cargo loading and unloading methods, of traffic rules and regulations, and of the maintenance of motor vehicles.
Skill: ! Operate all Food Service vehicles, to include backing and parking of large trucks with trailers.
Ability: Ability to read, speak and understand written and spoken English; compute basic mathematical calculations; follow schedules and instructions in operating vehicles, and follow practices in loading and unloading cargo
Registration or Licensure Requirements:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the eighth grade with a valid driverâs license and a good driving record, plus one (1) year experience operating a motor vehicle in a commercial environment.
Prior truck driving experience; excellent driving record, preferred.
Requires a current TB Skin Test or x-ray given or coordinated by LSS.
Position is designated as Limited Contact (LC) for training purposes.
Completion of/or enrollment in a Defensive Driving & Van Driving Course.
Must have a valid driverâs license to drive a State ve! hicle.
Initial Selection Criteria:
Initial Scree! ning Criteria: High school diploma or GED is preferred. Prior driving experience and excellent driving record, preferred.

Requires a current TB Skin Test or x-ray given or coordinated by LSSLC
Position is designated as Limited Contact (LC) for training purposes.
Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours.
All State Supported Living Center employees are subject to random drug testing.
Position is paid a monthly salary of $1,706.75
