Performs routine purchasing of materials, supplies, and equipment for a deparment or section; may collect bids, place orders, and follow up for payment within state regulations and university procedures.

Major/Essential ! Functions

• To acquire materials and supplies required for the timely completion of BMC projects and work orders
• Match invoices with PO’s and packing slips and check for Account codes
• Comply with all State of Texas purchasing and Physical Plant Operating policies

Qualifications

Completion of high school or the equivalent plus three years related experience. Additional related education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

This is a Security Sensitive Level II Position: Applications for this position will be subject to a criminal background check and may be required to be fingerprinted. Applicants will be subject to drug and alcohol testing after a conditional offer of employment has been extended but before employment can be confirmed. The offer of employment is contingent upon the candidate passing the drug test. Employees in Level II positions are subject ! to a post-accident drug testing.

Preferred Qualificat! ions

• State certification in Purchasing
• Ability to communicate with vendors and foreman of shops
• Computer experience in Excel and Word
• Ability to comprehend state rules and regulations in regards to purchasing
• Knowledge of items to be purchased by vendors and the products that they carry
• Experience in purchasing area of at least one year
