The primary responsibility of this role is works directly with Regional Manager, gins and growers to ensure supply demands are met and the quality of the seed received at sites meet all quality standards set forth by the Supply Chain Team.
The incumbent will:
- Lead, guide, and direct gins and growers to achieve best quality planting seed based on quality standards to meet Supply Chain goals;
- Work with Regional Manager and Site Manager to ensure seed movements to site are scheduled and communication has been made to the gins and to site QA team and Site Manager;
- Conduct field inspections for isolation, purity testing, quality issues, and presence of cockleburs;
- Determine crop progress and submit forecast to Regional manager and Supply C! hain, so adjustments to crop plan can be made if needed;
- Furnish a weekly activity report to the Regional Manager;
- Prepare the Annual Operation Plan (AOP) budget for fields operations;
- Secure necessary acreages to secure bulk tons needed based on crop plan while spreading production risk and minimizing cost;
- Perform preliminary quality tests on bulk seed at gin to minimize freight cost on seed that does not meet quality standards. Notify QA Supervisor, Site Manager and Regional Manager;
- Manage grower contracts by ensure grower contracts have been written, payments checked for accuracy, signed by both parties and entered into SAP;
- Map all fields planted within the gin group to ensure lots can be tracked back to the original source;
- Assist Site Management in movement of fuzzy seed from other Bayer sites to meet site demands;
- Responsible for writing personal incentive goals and submitting to Regional Manag! er;
- Work with Regional Manager to track field budgets to help ! reduce cost;
- Attend and participate in monthly safety training, tool box meetings and work safely and follow all safety policies;
- Assist as needed in site operations and field production in other Regions.
- B.S. in Agronomy, Seed Science, Plant Science, Agricultural Economics, or related discipline is required;
- Three to five years, experience in cotton production/ research, seed production/quality assurance or agribusiness;
- Communication skills a must, Knowledge of the cotton systems;
- Critical/ Logical thinking;
- Proficiency with personal computers, ability to use Excel, Word, Outlook, and SAP.
