Clinical Assistant

Employees in this classification provide patient care management to an assigned clinic in the areas of clerical and clinical duties.
In clinical setting, the employee receives direct supervision from physician or nurs! ing supervisory in either oral or written form. In office, the employee receives direct supervision from department administrator.
May supervise other Medical Assistants, clerical staff and student positions. Work is performed under usual office and clinic conditions. May be stressful when working under emergency conditions.
Major/Essential Functions
Perform and schedule daily EKGâs, Treadmill Stress Test, 24 Holter Monitors, and 30 day Cardiac Event Monitors.
Assist physician with visit/exam/procedure/chaperone as needed.
Process testing reports to referring physicians and outside reports/test to be read by Cardiologist to include Montford and Lubbock State School testing.
Ensure adequate inventory of necessary supplies and equipment is available for diagnostic and treatment procedures.
Complete patient visit, by answering patients questions or finding appropriate person to answer questions and escort patient! to check out process.
Occasional Duties
Sch! edule patients (new and return)when requested.
Shadow charts and clinical charts pulled and matched to patient phone calls, messages, refill request, faxes, etc.
Assist with chart prepping for next day clinic.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Education:
A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
License/Certification:
Graduation from an approved certified program for assistants in the area of required specialty. Certification by an approved accredited certifying agency in the specialty that particular work will be performed.
Preferred Qualifications
2 years directly related experience.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Familiarity with medical equipment; knowledge of principles and applications of the ethics; legal requirements; and terminology within the area of specialty.
Ability to take dictation.
Ability to accu! rately transcribe dictation.
Manual dexterity necessary for clinical and laboratory procedures.
