Major/Essential Functions

• Duties involve the enforcement of laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the security of persons, buildings, and property on University premises
• Work is performed under general supervision in accordance with established procedures and is evaluated on the effective implementation of University and state regulations and adherence to departmental guidelines
• Performs police officer duties in a police department serving a population in excess of 30,000 people that include student, faculty, staff, and visitors
• Must demonstrate the ability to exercise independent judgment within the limits prescribed by law, rules, regulations and Texas Tech policies

Qualifications

Fifte! en (15) semester college hours from an accredited college or university plus a basic TCLEOSE license.

Applicants must meet commissioning standards for Texas Peace Officers as mandated by the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.

This is a Security Sensitive Level II Position: Applications for this position will be subject to a criminal background check and may be required to be fingerprinted. Applicants will be subject to drug and alcohol testing after a conditional offer of employment has been extended but before employment can be confirmed. The offer of employment is contingent upon the candidate passing the drug test. Employees in Level II positions are subject to a post-accident drug testing.
